À PROPOS DE L'ACTIVITÉ

A splitboard is a snowboard that separates in two (lengthwise!) to be transformed into two approach skis for the ascent. Once at the top, all you have to do is “reconstitute” the board using an ingenious and simple clip system. The board keeps all its qualities for the descent.
This system, completely reliable, allows snowboarders to enjoy the joys of hiking. Splitboarding will take you into the magical world of the wild mountains, and will allow you to go further, to put your trace on still pristine slopes.
Enjoy the great outdoors by splitboarding and learn to tame the mountain alongside a qualified instructor, or a high mountain guide, specializing in off-road snowboarding.

Niveaux d'expertise possibles

Splitboard - R1

From a confirmed level to an expert in snowboarding, you have never practiced snowboarding and you want to discover this activity. Also suitable if you already practice the activity and want to join a group.

Splitboard - R2

From a confirmed level to an expert in snowboarding with already completed splitboarding courses, the altitude difference and the commitment to the slopes are getting stronger. You'll need to be physically ready to enjoy safely.

Matériel fourni

All technical equipment is provided: splitboard, bindings, boots and telescopic sticks, skins and knives. Fully equipped high-end freeride splitboard boards.
Available on site, maintained and checked by the instructors, the UCPA equipment fleet is selected with the greatest care. We take great care of boots, an essential element of comfort but also of performance. We reference several brands to offer different footwear that adapt to all types of feet. All centers are equipped with shoe dryers (heat and hygiene guaranteed).
You will also be equipped with off-road safety equipment (shovel, probe and DVA).
If you come with your own equipment, you can have it checked.

Type de session

Most splitboarding courses include a majority of day trips to be able to take full advantage of the routes and adapt to the best snow conditions. However, some days may remain on the classic model (2.5 hours of practice in the morning and 2.5 hours in the afternoon).
Each session starts with a warm-up and ends with a debriefing. The content of each session is unique since it is systematically co-constructed beforehand between the instructor and the whole group.
At the end of the day, discussion times are planned at UCPA (internship presentation, equipment overview, environment, snow and avalanche, research exercise with DVA, etc.)

Securité

To evolve safely off-trail (and hiking), it is essential to know the mountain environment and the terrain perfectly. To do this, you will be supervised by qualified instructors or mountain guides who will make every effort to allow you to fully enjoy your hikes in optimal safety conditions. In the mountains, zero risk does not exist, but it is possible to reduce the risk considerably through appropriate behavior and knowledge. It is therefore extremely important to respect the instructions and decisions of these professionals. Our instructors or guides will train you in the use of safety equipment and will give you all the keys to mountain safety to gradually become autonomous in your practice.
