Snowboarding was created for powder, almost! It is the ideal machine for off-road and freeride. Both fun and accessible, snowboarding provides incredible sensations of fluidity, speed and pleasure off-road. Whether in the forest, in deep corridors or beautiful pristine valleys, snowboarding is easy to play in all snow conditions off-track. Enjoy the great virgin spaces and learn to tame the mountains from a qualified instructor or a mountain guide.

Niveaux d'expertise possibles

Backcountry snowboarding - Discovery

You have at least one 'Confirmed' level in snowboarding.
You want to discover off-road skiing. This course will introduce you to the use of safety equipment, learn techniques to make it easier to slide in all snow and terrain and make your first outings.


Backcountry snowboarding - All Mountain

At the “Confirmed” or “Expert” snowboarding level, you have already done a discovery course or you have experience in off-road skiing. This course will allow you to be comfortable in all snow, to carry out varied itineraries and to master the handling of different DVAs and more generally to better understand all the dimensions of off-road activity.


Backcountry snowboarding - Expert

At the “Expert” snowboarding level, you already have very good off-road experience (several courses) and you want intensive practice to refine your reading of the terrain, perfect your techniques to be comfortable in all snow, all slopes and to carry out larger outings.


Matériel fourni

All technical equipment is provided: off-road snowboarding, bindings, boots.
High-end freeride snowboard boards, thanks to our partnership with Rossignol. Available on site, maintained and checked by the instructors, the UCPA equipment fleet is selected with the greatest care. We take great care of boots, an essential element of comfort but also of performance. We reference several brands to offer different footwear that adapt to all types of feet.
All centers are equipped with shoe dryers (heat and hygiene guaranteed).
You will also be equipped with off-road safety equipment (shovel, probe and DVA).
If you come with your own equipment, you can have it checked.

Type de session

A session lasts approximately 2.5 hours (one session/day half-time and 2 sessions/day full-time).
Full-time internships allow more flexibility and adaptation to offer, for example, specific schedules according to conditions or plan day trips.
Each session starts with a warm-up and ends with a debriefing. The content of each session is unique since it is systematically co-constructed beforehand between the instructor and the whole group.
At the end of the day, discussion times are planned at UCPA (internship presentation, video feedback, equipment overview, environment, snow and avalanche, research exercise with DVA, etc.).

Securité

To evolve safely off-road, it is essential to know the mountain environment and the terrain perfectly.
To do this, you will be supervised by qualified instructors or mountain guides who will make every effort to allow you to fully enjoy off-road skiing.
Safe practice requires, above all, appropriate behavior and knowledge.
Our instructors or guides will train you in the use of safety equipment and will give you all the keys to mountain safety to gradually become autonomous in your practice.
