Séjours colos 6-17 ans

In an immersive universe par excellence, participate in a collective ocean experience, where everyone's successes and failures serve the progress of all. Whether you are with friends, in a group, in “relaxation mode” or coming alone to make maximum progress with others who are over-motivated, offer all your senses an exotic cocktail based on iodine and foam, blue as far as the eye can see, waves, and the sparkle of the sea...
At the end of a week of internship, you will slide upright, if the sea allows it, for several tens of meters! You will know how to choose your wave, take a direction, draw turns on the “shoulder” of a smooth unbroken wave and slide to the edge. In addition to being able to choose the board that corresponds to your level, you will know how a tide works and, by reading a weather map, you will be able to forecast swell and surf conditions.
We offer you the destinations that offer the maximum potential for the practice and the intensity you choose.

Le mot de l'expert

The UCPA surf school celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2017. It is this experience that we share with you during each internship: choosing the best time, the best place to facilitate your practice, your progress and your pleasure.
...
We are well aware that some come to “eat it”, others to immerse themselves in an atmosphere with friends, or to discover an exotic universe. Whatever your project, we give you the keys to find pleasure. Safe and effective technical learning. At each learning sequence, attention is paid to motor efficiency (each gesture serves a desired result obtained through reasonable effort). Knowledge of the “Ocean environment” as well as beaches, coastline, swells and tides. The supervision of your sequences by professionals, passionate people, and systematic personalized advice. Certificates of attained level for those who wish to do so and always a balance sheet to project you into a future personal or collective practice. For technicality or simply for fun, images of your sequences and the “traces” of your waves using connected tools. After several internships, you will certainly have the project of being part of one of the families of surfers that can be classified as follows: - longboarders (the most numerous among those over 35) who use boards of 2.40m and over, preferring quiet surfing in wave conditions of less than 1 m, sea conditions that we find most of the time in summer on our Atlantic coast. - shortboarders (the most numerous under 35) who use boards under 2 m in size, made to engage in deeper waves, allowing more radical maneuvers. - bodyboarders, equipped with a board of about 1.10m on which they surf lying down, wearing fins. This device allows you to surf in conditions of very hollow and powerful waves on the beach. It is also an educational tool for understanding how to glide on a wave. - see practitioners of Stand-up paddle boarding, one of the most accessible activities on the lake. Literally, stand-up paddling means “to row while standing.” On a kind of bulky surfboard, you move using a paddle. The SUP offers great stability. As for the paddle, it allows you to move forward and steer. Recommended on flat water for beginners. Can also be used in waves (recommended for experienced surfers only).

À PROPOS DE L'ACTIVITÉ

The UCPA surf school and surf camps offer all types of courses, from 6 to 55 years old, in France and abroad: full-time, part-time, itinerant, “beginner party” or “experience” courses for the most assiduous.

In France, you will find internships on the best spots of our 26 sites spread over the Atlantic coast: Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Basque Country), Seignosse, Soustons (Landes), Lacanau, Hortin (Gironde) or even La Torche (Brittany). Abroad, our spots are fewer but just as qualitative: Le Vaucluse (Antilles), Tibau do Sul (Brazil), Fuerteventura and Lanzarote (Spain), Taghazout (Spain), Taghazout (Morocco).

We favor the quality of the sites for a secure practice and away from large numbers of visitors. The technical quality of the beaches offered in France and abroad makes it possible to address all levels. Most of our accommodation sites are located less than a kilometer from the coast.

Matériel fourni

During your stay you will be equipped with modern and comfortable equipment.
Neoprene suits: since 2011 we have been working with the brand “BILLABONG” which produces shorty suits and integrals for us.
We favor comfort and ease of movement and develop with the brand the models that are most adapted to our audiences.
Surfboards: UCPA surf schools are equipped with surfboards for all levels.
For beginners, we have “INDIO” foam boards that adapt to all sizes.
For people who know how to take an unbroken wave (take-off), we offer more rigid supports such as scalable “PKS” boards.
Once you have mastered this technique, and when you are able to follow the wave in its direction of breaking, you can continue learning on more reactive devices, such as the “PKS” polycarbonate technical boards. This will allow you to set up a more undulatory surf on the face of the wave, and will thus require you to make turns at the bottom and at the top of the wave.

BodyBoards: we have all board sizes, of very advanced quality, used by very good level riders, brands such as “HYDRO”, as well as fins.

Type de session

Each session lasts about 2 hours when the conditions are right, including equipment time. This can be more when the surfing conditions are exceptional for the trainees (east wind, low tide, waves of 50cm to 1m). This may be less when the sea is strong, the weather is cold, or the effort is harder physically. Surfing education quickly became individualized due to the extreme diversity of student behavior in the face of an ever-changing sea.
Beginners are oriented as quickly as possible to practice in smooth waves that are not broken.

For more experienced students, the instructor accompanies them further offshore by explaining the points of vigilance to safely surf as many waves as possible by giving them progress goals.

At the first levels:
Learning the equipment, moving around the evolution zone, straightening up on the board pushed by a foam, the fundamental rules of safety, the main functions of the beach and the ocean.

At intermediate levels:
The testing of different equipment, tips for vigilance and lucidity on the choice of waves, to reduce fatigue, to surf as long as possible without effort.

At higher levels:
The adequacy of the equipment to his style, his level, his objectives and his practice projects, the choice of the right spot, the best wave adapted to his performance, the management of his session in the water to get the best out of it, the analysis of gestures and attitudes.

Securité

Safety is our number one priority.
Our objective, at each course, is to make participants aware of the vigilance required in waves for greater control of the environment.
On the beach and on the center are presented in a practical and theoretical way:
- the dangers that waves and the currents they generate can represent,
- the emergency process in case of an incident (the team of instructors, the first aid station),
- emergency equipment.

The supervision and our approach value and place first and foremost the safe reading of waves and the body of water as well as the collective vigilance of the group towards each of its members in the water.
All instructors hold the State Certificate of Surfing Sports Educator or the Professional Certificate for Youth and Popular and Sports Education (surfing option), or are in training in the process of acquiring one of these two State certificates or holders of a specific surfing and/or bodyboarding qualification.

The equipment on the beach:
- Oxygen therapy block (in case of a closed first aid station or itinerant course)
- First aid kit
- Mobile phone
- Pair of flippers and/or surfboards
Your instructor will check with you, from the very first moments, your aquatic ease as well as the conformity of your equipment (board and leash).
Doing a bit of sport is desirable. If you practice jogging, swimming, dancing, dancing, cycling or any other sport, no worries for you!

Ratio d'encadrement

The groups are made up of a maximum of 8 students practicing simultaneously and, except for extremely different technical levels, we group the participants by affinities; the instructor gives attention and individual advice to each one.
