SPOT
The Sanguinary Islands
The guardians of the Gulf of Ajaccio in South Corsica
Off the Gulf of Ajaccio, in South Corsica, in the extension of the Parada peninsula overlooked by its Genoese tower dating from the 16th century, lie the Sanguinary Islands. This archipelago consists of four small islands: Mezu Mare, Cormorants, Cala d'Alga and Porri. On the largest, Mezu Mare, there is a lighthouse on a square promontory built in 1844. At sunset, the archipelago, which is an integral part of the natural and cultural heritage of the city of Ajaccio, is tinged with a dark red color.
