The program

Day by day

Day of arrival

Day 1 - Arrival in Greece/Athens
Reception at the airport by the guide and transfer to the city center. Installation at the hotel.
...
Depending on your arrival time, discover the city. Dinner at the restaurant in the picturesque neighborhood of Plaka, at the foot of the Acropolis.

During your stay

Day 2 - Naxos
Boarding in the morning for Naxos. We leave the large bay of Piraeus and go along the first islands. After 5 hours of sailing, we dock in the largest island of the Cyclades.
...
Accommodation in a hotel for three nights in the heart of the capital of the island called Chôra or Naxos, like the island. Lunch in a tavern, free afternoon to discover the various monuments of the city, including a large gate, the “Portara”, the only remnant of an unfinished temple of Apollo. Beautiful beaches can be reached on foot from the city. Dinner in a tavern, night at the hotel.

Day 3 — Naxos: from monastery to church
This hike starts in the heart of the island of Naxos, in the middle of the mountains. A first path leads us to the Fotododi Monastery (9th century). Then we continue to Apeiranthos, a village nestled in a valley. For a break, we continue our hike through the village gardens to reach the Byzantine church of Kiriaki built in dry stone. The return is in the shade of the holm oaks. Return to the city of Naxos, dinner in a tavern in the city, night at the hotel. Approximately 5 hours of walking, altitude differences +150 m/- 150 m.

Day 4 - Naxos: the roof of the Cyclades
Ascension of the highest peak in all of the Cyclades, Mount Zeus, which culminates at an altitude of 1001 m. From the summit, we become aware of the number of islands that surround us. On the way back down, we stop at the cave of Zeus, the “God of Gods”, born in Crete but who is said to have grown up on Naxos. Back in town, dinner in a tavern, third night at the hotel in Naxos. 5h30 walk, altitude differences +600 m/- 600 m.

Day 5 - Naxos: the marble giant
This hike starts in the picturesque village of Melanes a few kilometers from the capital. We take a path that leads us to a “kouros”, a giant statue from the 8th century BC. Then we cross a small plateau, following an old paved path. The picnic break takes place at the foot of a chapel. After a Greek coffee, we follow a small stream, go up a valley to complete the loop. Approximately 5 hours of walking, altitude differences +190 m/- 190 m. Return by taxi to the port, boarding for the island of Milos at the end of the afternoon (4:30 crossing). Accommodation for 4 nights in a boarding house in the city of Pollonia, in the north of the island.

Day 6 - Milos/the North Coast
4 hours of walking, little difference in altitude. The trail first crosses creeks, then we pass along beaches, small natural ports with numerous Syrmatas (boat garages dug into the cliff) before arriving at the lunar site of Sarakiniko: magnificent! After a swim break, we continue our hike on white cliffs to the pretty port of Mandrakia. Dinner in a tavern in Tripiti or Plaka, return to the pension.

Day 7 - Milos
The island of Milos rises around a central caldera, and is bordered on its coastline by an impressive network of pink, orange or red rocks sheltering caves that were long havens of pirates. The discovery of the famous statue of Venus de Milo attests to its ancient prosperity. Transfer by vehicle to Plaka, a small village of white houses with steep streets. Starting point for our hike on trails offering a beautiful view of the Aegean Sea. Return to our accommodation, dinner and overnight stay on site.

Day 8 - Free day in Milos
Entirely free day on the island of Milos. Several possibilities are available to you. Free lunch and dinner, fourth night at the pension.

Day 9 — Crossing to Kimolos
Short ferry transfer (1 hour) to the very small island of Kimolos, less known to tourists. In Kimolos, time seems to have stopped 50 or 60 years ago. No cars (or very few), agricultural life is still present, an island just as volcanic and incredible beaches. Short transfer to the center of the island, start of our hike to admire among other things the “stone mushroom”, a rock sculpted by the winds, also called the “skiadi”. We continue our hike to the south of the island to Kalamitsi where we can dine in a tavern and camp on the beach.

Day 10 - Crossing to Sifnos
Transfer by one-hour ferry to the island of Sifnos, also spared by mass tourism... wild sandy beaches, white buildings and blue domes, mule tracks, the island looks like a postcard! Depending on the boat schedule, we will go to the most beautiful beach on the island, Platis Gialos. Dinner and accommodation for three nights in a boarding house in Apollonia or Artemonas.

Day 11 - Sifnos
Day dedicated to the discovery of this small island full of charm. From Artemonas a path leads to the fortified village of Kastro located on top of a hill. The village preserves numerous remains within its fortifications, all this in an incredible architectural entanglement. We continue to Faros Bay where the monastery of the island's patron saint Panaghia Chryssopighi is located, built at the end of a small peninsula in the 8th century that we will visit (proper dress required). Return to our accommodation the day before, dinner and overnight on site.

Day 12 — Sifnos
Last day to enjoy this small paradise. Today, a magnificent hike will take us, among other things, to the most important monastery on the island, the Prophitis Ilias, enthroned on top of a mountain. We are rewarded for our efforts (the climb is quite arduous) by the magnificent spectacle offered by this Byzantine building and the incredible view of an azure blue sea that extends to infinity. Return to our accommodation, dinner and a third night on site.

Day 13 — Crossing to Serifos
Short ferry transfer to the north (less than an hour), and we disembark on the island of Serifos. Nature seems to reign on this quiet little island. We hike to our bivouac site in Sykamia. Dinner in a tavern.

Day 14 — Serifos/Athens
Breakfast at the tavern and the second day of hiking on the island before boarding to reach the port of Piraeus, which is 73 nautical miles away (about 2 hours and 15 minutes of crossing). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Athens.

Last day

Day 15 - Transfer to the airport and flight back.

SPOT

L'île d'Égine(Copy)

The gateway to the island of Naxos...

On the peninsula of Palatia, just at the entrance to the port of Naxos, there is a remnant of one of the doors of a huge temple that was dedicated to Apollo. This temple was built around 530 BC. The 4 marble blocks that make up this door each weigh 20 tons... In the evening you can admire beautiful sunsets through this door.
