A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE TRIP

Sport Aventure/
Faced with the immensity of the landscapes offered by the Haut Verdon, the summits are privileged places to have a 360° view of unforgettable panoramas. The altitudes are between 1900 m and 3000 m with breathtaking views. Height differences between +1000 and +1200 m per day.
Bathed in Mediterranean light, the upper Verdon Valley combines forests, peaks, lakes and pastures. In these dry mountains, the lawns are grazed by sheep and cows, the terrain is hectic, the torrents make their way through the black marls, forming large ravine slopes. At the heart of this landscape, Mont Pelat.
Easy to access, it is an ideal spot to enjoy a 360° view of the largest high-altitude lake in Europe, the glacial lake of Allos. Put on your walking shoes to reach the highest point in Haut Verdon. Be careful, a marmot or a chamois may be hiding here or there! Cross the larch forest, heading for one of the most beautiful ridges in the Alps. Try the hike leading you to Cimet and take advantage of the pretty waterfalls that punctuate the walk to take a break. What if you set out to conquer the sources of the Verdon? Once you reach Tête de la Sestrière, the valleys of Blanche, Allos and Ubaye compose a fairy tale.

The program

Day by day

Day of arrival

See you on Sunday afternoon at the sports village at 5.30 pm.
Welcome, installation. Welcome drink and, before dinner, presentation of the week.

During your stay

Monday - you drive between La Palud sur Verdon and the Refuge du Col d'Allos. You leave your things there for the week.
You join the trail in the direction of the Baisse du Signal to the Baisse de Prenier.
...
This trail quickly reaches a small grassy plateau, before descending to a small aerial pass. Serious things then begin, with a steep climb into slabs. When the trail disappears, clearly visible cairns take over, and at the end of a climb of 300 meters, you reach the Petit Cheval de Bois (2754 m). You follow the ridge to reach the pass between the two peaks, at 2681 m. The summit of the Grand Cheval de Bois (2838 m) is there. You go down the same route. Night at the Col d'Allos refuge. Height difference +/- 700 m.

Tuesday - Grande Séolane is the beautiful summit of the program, overlooking Barcelonette and offering one of the most beautiful panoramas of Haut-Verdon. The proposed itinerary starts from the Col d'Allos, runs along the Sestrière ridge, passes by the normal route (Col des Thuiles) and goes down through “Lou Chiminet” a steep chimney shortening the return. Night at the Col d'Allos refuge.
Height difference: +/- 1130 m.

Wednesday — South Summit of the Three Dioceses (2774 m). You leave from La Foux d'Allos, with in front of you, a sumptuous panorama of the central summit (2818 m) and its large vertical west face! The Estrop massif also offers a magnificent view from the summit, the Prealps of Digne, Auriac, and Foux d'Allos. From there, the view embraces all of Mercantour and the rest of Haut-Verdon. Night at the Col d'Allos refuge. Height difference: +/- 1100 m.

Thursday - Dominating the glacial site of Lac d'Allos, the largest high-altitude lake in Europe located at 2227 m, Mont Pelat (3051m), located in the Mercantour National Park, is the highest point in the Haut Verdon. Night at the Col d'Allos refuge. Positive altitude difference: +/- 1000 m.

Friday — You return to La Palud sur Verdon. En route you stop for the last day of hiking, hike to the masterful “giant chairs” (“cadières” means “chairs” in Provençal), impressive ruiniform rocks that stand at an altitude of 1545 m above sea level above the Verdon Valley. Swim at Lake Castillon to recover in the green water of the Verdon. Night at the UCPA center

The course of this program is indicative.
It may undergo modifications or adjustments, depending on technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s).
It can also be adapted according to the technical and physical level of the participants.

Last day

On Saturday, free stroll in the village, or by car on the ridges of the Grand Canyon.
End of the stay and departure of the UCPA bus at 10:00am, for Aix-en-Provence TGV station in the morning for arrival at 12:30.
...
Possibility for people in a car to enjoy Lake Sainte-Croix (canoe, pedal boat).
