During 9 sessions, our experienced instructors help you acquire your first notions of hiking while helping you to progress technically in skiing both on and off the slopes. To go further in hiking, you continue to perfect your skiing technique. Located in the village resort of Argentière, a 5-minute walk from the emblematic Grands-Montets ski area (3200 m), our UCPA sports village offers you all its know-how as an off-road specialist.
This course is not recommended for expert or well-experienced skiers.

The program

Day by day

Day of arrival

Reception in the morning from 8:30am.
Breakfast (8:30am to 10:00am) accommodation (in the morning, you have a secure room available to leave your luggage), provision of equipment and your ski pass valid from the first day of the course.

For the first day, practical at your convenience in autonomy, our teams provide you with all the information you need to get your stay in the snow off the right foot: safety tips, weather information, snow conditions, snow conditions, trail information.

The advice of the sports village: we suggest that you arrive before 13:00 to enjoy your first day of vacation, and start sliding.

In the evening, during the Welcome Time and over a welcome drink, the UCPA staff gives you all the information concerning UCPA, life in the sports village, the supervised sessions that start the next day: constitution of groups, appointment times, highlights of the week.

If you purchased the “arrival the day before” option, we welcome you between 5 pm and 8 pm. If you plan to arrive after 8 pm, please contact the sports village (email argentiere@ucpa.asso.fr or phone) so that we can send you the code for the front door. You will then find an envelope with your name and directions to find your room. Dinner is served until 20:30.

During your stay

Approximately 23 hours of supervision over the week, in the form of continuous days, with cold meals on the slopes.

Tuesday to Friday:
Alternating off-trail skiing and discovering ski touring. Use of equipment (shoes, bindings, sealskins), climbing technique and upstream conversion.

This program is for information purposes only.
It may be modified or adapted according to technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s).
It can also be adapted according to the technical and physical level of the participants, according to the state of fitness of the participants.

Last day

Day 7:
Last morning not supervised. Return of the equipment before 12 noon.
Check-out of the room before 13:00 and end of the stay on Saturday no later than 14:00.

Chamonix Valley ski area

A ski area at the foot of Mont Blanc

Unlike ski areas, Chamonix is a high-altitude town surrounded by several ski areas (Tour/Vallorcine, Lognan/Les Grands Montets, La Flegère/Le Brévent). They allow for varied skiing thanks to the omnipresence of the glaciers and Mont Blanc. The valley offers 160 km of trails for all levels culminating at an altitude of 3800 m. They are served by 63 ski lifts, as well as an important off-road area.
