The program
Day by dayDay of arrival
During your stay
The first session allows you to understand equipment, balance, propulsion and movement.
The first sessions take place at the departure of the pontoon to free yourself from the constraints of traveling by boat and to promote individualization. At first, you will dive alone with the instructor, then in pairs afterwards.
In the following sessions, you will do small simple exercises to develop ease and security. All the dives will be complemented by a time of exploration in order to enjoy the underwater landscape of the Caribbean coast. The group then plunges by 4 to increase the exploration time under water.
After each session, the instructor will offer you a group debriefing to take stock of everyone's progress.
As the week goes by, you will feel more and more comfortable and you will be able to enjoy your dives better. The technique will gradually give way to more exploration. Boat trips will allow you to discover diving in the open sea and some beautiful sites on the Caribbean coast.
Day 7 - Free day: Relax in the sports village or set off to discover the island.
As a paid option that can be booked on the UCPA.com site, we offer you a day excursion south of Martinique: you cross Martinique to the south with breaks at remarkable viewpoints in the heart of the island. You head to Fort-de-France and visit its traditional covered market. You continue your discovery to Sainte-Luce to have lunch with your feet in the sand in a restaurant on the beach. You then enjoy swimming time for a relaxing afternoon.
Day 8: Free day (it's the day of departure and arrival), you can rent a car to discover a part of Martinique... or rest for a second week of exploration
Your second week, D9-J13, including 8 supervised activity sessions including 2 full days.
D9 - Half day (morning) - Visit Saint-Pierre
Before the eruption of Mount Pelée which destroyed the city in 1902, Saint-Pierre was an essential place in the Antilles, nicknamed “Little Paris”. The day starts with a visit to buildings not to be missed, such as the dungeon of Louis Cyparis, the only survivor of the eruption, or the cathedral. We then continue to the small market of Saint-Pierre with its pretty stalls full of colorful local products before ending with the Depaz distillery, one of the oldest in Martinique. After a walk as close as possible to the machines to present the different stages of rum production, the morning ends with a tasting of rums and liquors.
Afternoon: Hike to the Couleuvre River waterfall, one of the highest on Île aux Fleurs.
D+ 150 m - Distance 3 km - Transfer 30 min
On the way we will probably come across the arboreal tarantulla “Matoutou Falaise”, endemic to Martinique. Many cocoa trees can be observed in the middle of other species such as weather trees, river woods, zamanas... Upon arrival, the Couleuvre waterfall flows quietly into the heart of the jungle along the huge rock face.
Day 10 - Atlantic Day: Hike on the Caravelle peninsula, a Mecca for piracy.
Full day, 4 hours of walking, 8 km, swimming and picnicking. Transfer to the Caravelle 1h30.
Change of scenery! After a warm-up on a dirt road, we get to the heart of the matter by going up to the lighthouse on the peninsula. Up there, a breathtaking view awaits us. 360° of landscapes between Mount Pelée, Dominica Island, Atlantic Ocean, Martinique Coast and of course the Caravelle Peninsula. We can observe the superb Baie du Trésor where we will have a picnic. We then recover the trail to explore a real mosaic of landscapes, cliffs torn by the waves, lunar course on andesite, dry forest and finally mangrove... At picnic time, a swim in the clear waters of this well-sheltered Bay is a must. After lunch, we still have 1 hour of walking to finish our journey through the mangroves and discover this surprising ecosystem.
D11 - Free day: relax in the sports village or set off to discover the island.
Day 12 - In the morning, transfer to Absalon, where you will meet your guide for a canyoning session in the middle of the tropical forest.
In the early afternoon you will reach the Balata Garden on foot for an autonomous visit to the largest botanical garden in Martinique.
Day 13 - Morning: Discovering the Caribbean coast on a fishing boat.
Departure from the UCPA pontoon at the foot of the sports village.
Jean Guy, the fisherman-storyteller, takes you on his fishing pole for 2 hours of navigation along the Caribbean coast. You will discover the Anses du Nord with its steep landscapes that contrast with the softness of the beaches. Between tales and legends of the Antilles, your guide will watch for the horizon in search of dolphins, whales and turtles who like to wander in these waters... A stop will be offered to immerse yourself in this giant aquarium if you are a fan of snorkeling, or simply to swim from a beach at the end of the world.
Afternoon: Visit to Habitation Céron, a 17th century sugar factory located in the town of Prêcheur.
Visit and swim at Anse Céron. Transfer 20 minutes.
In the Antilles, Habitations are former sugar or coffee farms. They bear witness to the colonial era. The Habitation Céron is a former 17th century sugar factory transformed into an agrotourism structure in the middle of a huge botanical park. After visiting the few ruins of the original house, we set off to discover numerous plant species in a space designed to inspire tranquility and contemplation. The highlight of this visit is the spectacular three-hundred-year-old Zamana that sits in the middle of the estate, proud to have won the award for the most beautiful tree in France! When it's in season, you can taste chocolate made from cocoa beans harvested in the heart of the house. The afternoon ends at Anse Céron Beach for a swim in the waves of this wild beach.
Day 14 - Free day, ideal to enjoy a last day in the center, at the beach, or to visit the last wonders of the island!
The course of this program is given for information purposes only.
It may undergo modifications or adjustments, depending on technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s).
