SPOT
The Petra site
Discover the pink city of the desert
Located in the south of Jordan, in a mountain range, Petra is one of the jewels of the country, often cited as the 8th wonder of the world. Founded in the 8th century BC, it took on all its splendor from the 6th century; it was then a must on the Silk and Spice Road. The city was built into the cliffs, sometimes 80m high, the facades of the buildings being dug into the rock. Although most of the houses were destroyed, there are still many sites, most of them religious or funerary, that are absolutely breathtaking. The particular color of the rock has earned the city its nickname of “Vermeille City”.

This trip is for people with very good equestrian skills in nature.
It is essential to be well equipped and to know how to ride at 3 speeds (step, trot, gallop).
It is necessary to know how to bridle, saddle, trot quickly, and gallop in groups, which corresponds to a minimum level of 5 or 4 gallop.
Our horses are not school horses, but work horses, educated according to Arab criteria - light hand, leg sensitivity, head held high - which is why we use a few ring martingales.
Dynamic riding, requiring a good mastery of the essential bases of horseback riding: balance, authority without brutality, calm and confidence.
The stay requires being in good physical shape. 5 to 6 hours of horseback per day, sometimes over long distances. We travel an average of 25 to 35km per day: about 5 to 6 hours of horseback during the day divided into 2:30-3:30 in the morning, a stop at noon of 3 hours and resumption for 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon.
The time on horseback depends on the level of the group, the horses, the terrain and the weather. So you need to have sufficient stamina.
Arabian horses are enduring but not very resilient. Thus, we ask riders over 85kg to specify this to us when booking, in order to validate with the guide the availability of a suitable horse.
These breeding horses are the result of a cross between Arabian Thoroughbreds from the royal stables and local mares. All horses are in excellent condition and are fully trained.
Horses live all year round in the Wadi Rum Nature Reserve, that is to say in the desert and thus maintain all the qualities of the Arabian horse. Foals have been handled from a young age, which makes a difference in their life as adult horses.
A 4x4 vehicle ensures the “rolling logistics” of this hike and allows you to transport your personal belongings and the supplies that you will find every evening at the bivouac.
Electricity
The current used is 220 Volts. Some sockets require an adapter.

Level/Physical Intensity **
