This one-week objective sailing trip level 2 in Brittany is designed for 14-17 year olds. It offers learning the main gaits, the various actions, sail adjustment, mooring and maneuvers.
It allows you to learn coastal navigation on board a liveable sailboat, from Belle-Ile-en-Mer to the Glénans archipelago, in the Gulf of Morbihan. On the program: discovering life on board a liveable sailboat and learning to sail coastal. To note: To access this level 2 stay, the level 1 stay must be validated.

Day of arrival

Day 1:
Reception from 2 pm on Sundays, directly on pontoon D, at the port of Lorient, La Base.
Composition of crews and safety overview.

Preparation of the menus for the week, refueling, then departure of the cruise.

During your stay

Days 2 to 6:
Navigation from 4 to 6 hours per day on average (depending on weather conditions), during the day only.
Raising awareness about the preservation of the marine environment.

- The current markings
- Knots: dead tower, half-key, capstan, knot of 8 and chair knot
- Tack change maneuvers
- The pace markers and the different maneuvers
- Stopping the boat and starting the engine
- Techniques for recovering floating objects
- The usefulness of the logbook and its completion
- Turning on the GPS and reading a MOB key position
- Reading the boat's speed, depth, wind speed and orientation
- The usefulness of channel 16
- The preparation of the spinnaker, the sending and the sinking
- The day before on the boats in the vicinity with the crossing rules
- Safe movement on the boat
- The control of your life jacket
- Knowledge of the dangers of the boat (winch, boom, hoist)

Last day

Day 7:
Debriefing of the stay.
Boat storage, cleaning and maintenance.
End of the stay at noon on Saturday at the port of Lorient, La Base.

The course of this program is indicative. It may undergo modifications or adjustments, depending on technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. It can also be adapted according to the technical and physical level of the participants. Under 3 team members, UCPA reserves the right to cancel the stay or mix it with a similar stay. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s).

The boat is equipped with 2 to 3 double berths depending on the boat, with storage and individual reading light and the possibility of sleeping in the saloon.

Collective and sports equipment. Our 35 to 45 foot boats are comfortable liveable sailboats.
They were chosen for their technicality and their maneuverability in any circumstance/situation.

Hygiene on board:
All ports are equipped with showers for boaters. The boats have showers to rinse off at the end of the swim.

Take the N165 and follow the direction of Lorient/Larmor Plage. At the Kéroman roundabout (with a submarine bow), take the 2nd exit and enter the “submarine base”.
Free parking in front of the Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly.
Go to pontoon D. The pontoons are located 500 m from the car park on the left in front of the harbor master's office (tel.: 02 97 87 00 46).
