The island of Lanzarote is part of the province of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Of volcanic origin, the island is covered by three quarters of lava produced by a hundred volcanoes. The most important eruptions took place between 1730 and 1736. The island of Lanzarote has sublime beaches including those of Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca, as well as remarkable natural parks: the Timanfaya National Park, which is essentially volcanic, and the wine region of La Geria, and the wine region of La Geria, famous for its semicircular walls that protect vine plants from the dry and hot wind.
