SPOT
Cordillera Real
The majestic immensity of the Altiplano
The Cordillera Real corresponds to the part of the Andes located in the Bolivian Altiplano. From Sorata in the north to Illimani in the south, this mountain range has six peaks over 6000 meters above sea level: Pico del Norte, Illampu, Ancohuma, Chachacomani, Chachacomani, Huayna Potosi and Nevado Illimani. The Cordillera Royale offers surprising, beautiful, almost desert landscapes. The trails that cross the lagoons and the mountain range are often far from any home. A paradise for hikers looking for a change of scenery, encounters and tranquility.

This sporty trip requiring good physical fitness and a good ability to acclimatize to high altitude (6000 m) includes 3 parts:
- 4 days of acclimatization with quiet walks on the shores of Lake Titicaca, at an altitude of 4000m.
- A 5-stage trek in the Cordillera Royale, with mountain passes over 5000m.
- A traveling week in a 4*4 vehicle in the deserts of southern Bolivia (average altitude 4000m)
- The optional ascent of a 6008 m summit, Uturuncu.
The main difficulties come from the high altitude and the sometimes loose terrain (volcanic ash).
This program is available to anyone in very good physical condition who is able to walk 6 to 8 hours a day, with a light backpack.
Personal belongings, collective equipment and supplies are carried by pack animals (mules and/or llamas) that we meet every evening. You will therefore only carry in a backpack (about 35 liters) the essentials of the day (lunch, sweater, jacket, camera, i.e. 5 or 6 kg).
Altitude: It is absolutely essential to check that you have no contraindications to a prolonged stay at high altitude (between 4000 and 6000 m). Do not leave without consulting a doctor, especially if your health condition requires regular treatment.
During this trip, you will travel approximately 2500 km on the roads of the Andes at an average speed of 40 km/h.
Electricity
Bolivia: The voltage is 220 V, 50 Hz (110/220 V, 50 Hz in La Paz). French type plug.
NB: you are going to participate in an “adventure” program, a travel formula that is totally different from conventional tourist circuits: the discomfort, the unexpected, the health conditions, which we may encounter, suppose everyone has a good spirit of tolerance and a taste for adventure.
Through your active and positive participation, you will contribute to the cohesion and good understanding of the group, which is a guarantee of the success of the trip.
