This one-week objective sailing trip level 1 on the French Riviera is designed for 18-55 year olds. It offers the discovery of the main gaits, the various actions, sail adjustment, mooring and maneuvers.
It allows you to discover and experience common maneuvers on a liveable sailboat, from the creeks of Marseille to Saint-Tropez. On the program: discovery of life on board a liveable sailboat and learning to sail on the coast. This stay is open to beginners who want to learn how to sail.

The program

Day by day

Day of arrival

Day 1:
Reception from 16:00 at the port of La Vieille Darse in Toulon.
Composition of crews and safety briefing.
Preparation of the menus for the week, refueling, then departure of the cruise.

During your stay

Days 2 to 6:
Navigation from 4 to 6 hours per day on average (depending on weather conditions), during the day only.
Raising awareness about the preservation of the marine environment.

Discover the following points:
- The main gaits (near/cross/grand larue) and their landmarks
- The sail adjustment at all speeds
- Actions: loffer/border - shoot/shock
- Maneuvers: trajectory or propulsion, trunk handling and anchoring maneuvers
- The concepts of propellation/direction/balance
- The usefulness and the completion of the logbook
- Reading tide and weather information (barometer, Beaufort and Douglas scale...)
- The tide calculation of the day
- Knots: dead tower, half-key, capstan, knot of 8 and chair knot
- Raising awareness about the management of on-board consumption and responsible refuelling

Last day

Day 7:
Debriefing of the stay.
Boat storage, cleaning and maintenance.
End of the stay at 16:00 on Friday at the port of La Vieille Darse in Toulon.

The course of this program is indicative. It may undergo modifications or adjustments, depending on technical criteria, safety requirements or the climatic conditions of the moment. It can also be adapted according to the technical and physical level of the participants. Under 3 team members, UCPA reserves the right to cancel the stay or mix it with a similar stay. In this case, only those responsible for UCPA supervision are authorized to take the necessary decision (s).

It is equipped with 2 to 3 double berths depending on the boat with storage and individual reading light and the possibility of sleeping in the saloon.

Equipment Included

Collective and sports equipment. Our 35 to 45 foot boats are comfortable liveable sailboats.
They were chosen for their technicality and their maneuverability in any circumstance/situation.

- A sanitary area with sink and bathroom
- A warm square
- An equipped kitchen
- A card table

Hygiene on board:
All ports are equipped with showers for boaters. The boats have showers to rinse off at the end of the swim.

From Marseille: follow the A50 which ends in Toulon, direction “Le Port”. For security reasons, parking is prohibited within the walls of the port of Toulon Centre. You can park along the Quai des Sous-Mariniers or on Avenue de l'Infanterie de Marine.
Nearby, you will find the Mayol shopping center car park (3 min walk from the port).
From Nice: take the A57 to Toulon.

You are coming by train:
Get off at the Toulon SNCF station (TGV Paris/Marseille/Toulon line), then go to the sea port (20 min on foot or bus Mistral network No. 3 or 23 Mayol stop).

You are coming by plane:
Toulon airport (www.toulon-hyeres.aeroport.fr).

Once arrived, the boats are located on the R pontoon. You will recognize the boats thanks to the UCPA flames.

Restauration

The supplies for the sailing week are done at the start of the course. Meals are taken on board the boat.
