Short bus transfer and departure on foot to Cape Favaritx and its lighthouse at the end of the world.
Short bus transfer and departure on foot to Cape Favaritx and its lighthouse at the end of the world.
The mineral landscape becomes more and more green and flowery after Cape Town. The trail makes you discover wild coves bordered by fields. After a few ups and downs, still on the seafront, you arrive at Es Grau beach. A viewpoint on a hill reveals the swamps of the Natural Park and its birds. End of the hike in Port d'Es Grau. Return by bus to Port Mahon and night at the same accommodation as the day before.
3h30 of walking.
Day 3: Cales Coves/The South Coast
In the morning, the minivan drops you off at a place called Llucalari, towards the center of the island. From there, a path descends to a small cove with turquoise waters and then crosses an ancient agricultural region. Little by little, you are getting closer to the sea and the wild coves again. You arrive at Cales Coves, with its ancient pre-Christian necropolis, where hippies in the 70s, attracted by its caves, had chosen a vacation... A deserved swim in the creek before taking the trail again to join the minibus. Transfer by vehicle to the north coast to Fornells, a small white village by the sea. Overnight in Fornells in a new hotel.
4h15 walk
Day 4: Binimel.là beach/The north coast
Departure on foot from the hotel in the direction of the ancient Roman city of Sanitja and Cape Cavalleria. Ancient watchtowers dot the coast and recall a turbulent past, at a time when it was necessary to defend ourselves against the attacks of English, but also French pirates and barbary privateers! Pass by Sanitja Cove, then you leave the large Cape of Cavalleria to the north to continue west to the beautiful beach of Binimel. Return by bus to Fornells, night in the same accommodation as the day before.
3h45 of walking.
Day 5: From Cala Galdena to Playa Santo Thomas, south coast
After half an hour by bus, you arrive in Cala Galdana on the south coast. A few hotels surround a marvelous cove. It is the first on the menu of the day. You take the coastal path heading east. From that moment on, the hotels disappear and a succession of wild coves accessible only on foot or by boat appear to you as hikers. Nestled between white and red cliffs, they are all prettier than the next. Swim stops during the day. At the end of the hike, you arrive at Santo Thomas beach. Return by bus and third night in Fornells.
4 hours of walking.
Day 6: Cala Algaiarens, north coast
Transfer by minivan to the port of Ets Alocs, start of the hike. Between the holm oaks and the fragrant pines, the trail leads you to Pilar Cove and even further, heading west to the green-lined coves of Alfurinet and Algaiarens. The latter with its white sand is reputed to be the most beautiful on the island. From here, the trail climbs over the multicolored cliffs and plunges into the scrub to come out at Cala Morell. After visiting archaeological remains, you take the bus to the city of Ciutadella, in the west of Menorca. Accommodation for 2 nights in a new hotel in Ciutadella.
4h30 of walking.
Day 7: The creeks of the southwest
After 25 minutes by bus, you arrive in Son Xoriguer, a small port nestled in the extreme southwest of Menorca. You're walking along a coastline that still has traces of smuggling activity. The silhouette of Majorca and its mountains is very present in front of you. After crossing a long beach, the first cliffs hide a whole succession of coves with names that make connoisseurs of this beautiful island dream: Macarella, Bellavista, Turqueta and many others. White sand and turquoise blue waters are on the program of the day.
You finish the hike in Cala Galdana, where the bus is waiting to take you back to the hotel in Ciutadella.
