Les Spots

Northern Norway

Northern Norway is the least populated region in the country. It is the land of origin of the Sami people, whose culture, heritage, and current way of life can be discovered.

Although the region is remote, it is not isolated. Leisure opportunities are numerous and varied: visiting traditional fishing villages, hiking, skiing or kayaking, or going out to sea to admire humpback whales and killer whales. The local gastronomy is also excellent, the climate and the particular light being ideal for growing fruits and vegetables.

Lofoten Islands

Located north of the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands are the ideal place to see the Northern Lights.

Historic land of the Vikings, the Lofoten Islands offer mainly mountainous landscapes and are bordered by fishing villages. They are also the refuge of many species of birds, including the famous sea eagles. The most adventurous can take the plunge and enjoy some of the northernmost surf spots in the world.

Southern Norway and Fjords

The fjords, these valleys dug by erosion into the mountains, small inlets with steep sides, are spectacular landscapes and particularly typical of Norway.

The most impressive fjords are located in the south and west of the country. In particular, we can mention the Sognefjord, 200 km long, the Lysefjord, the southernmost, or the Hardangerfjord, which is particularly magnificent at the time of the flowering of the apple trees that border it. Southern Norway allows you to go from a summit to a sandy beach in a single hike.

Météo annuelle

The climate of Norway, softened by the warm sea current of the Gulf Stream, is much milder than its location in latitude would suggest.

In summer, the climate in Lofoten, 100 km north of the Arctic Circle, is very temperate for this high latitude.
However, in the mountains, it is necessary to put into perspective the low altitudes where our programs take place (between 0 and 800 m).

In Norway, 800 m of altitude is equivalent to more than 2000 m in the French Alps, in terms of isotherms and vegetation spreading. In a short altitude difference, you quickly pass from the coniferous forest to the birch forest and then to the tundra, which makes the hikes very contrasting. The most vigorous trees do not exceed 1200 m, and at 1500 m, grasslands persist all summer...
In the middle of summer, the average maximum temperatures reach 15°C at sea level in Lofoten. But as early as mid-August, nighttime temperatures can drop below 0°C on the highlands.

However, the feeling of hot and cold depends mainly on wind and humidity. Rain is not uncommon and large temperature variations can be recorded during the same day depending on the location and altitude.
Equip yourself accordingly.
